Letters to Gaston Calmette, 1885?-1901.

The collection comprises five letters sent by the artist to his friend, Gaston Calmette, principal editor of the Figaro, which often published news about Dannat. He sends a 300 Fr. check to the paper to be used for a charity of their choice (1893, Dec. 2). A letter of 24 April 1896 expresses the artist's delight for the great success of his mother's portrait. On 17 February 1901, the artist asks his friend to sit for a portrait that he would like to present at the next Exposition de Champs-de-Mars.
